Lucy grew up in Orkney, a remote island group off the north coast of Scotland. She started learning instruments as a child and began writing her own music at the age of fourteen. The project known as Wailing Miserere came into being when she received a four-track tape recorder as a birthday present, and started to record her songs for others to hear.

After moving to Edinburgh to study Music Technology in 2003, Lucy joined up with fellow Orcadian Tom Pickles, the highly talented and utterly ubiquitous flautist, to record more songs and also perform at the odd open mic once every few years or so.

Despite apparently doing her best to sink into obscurity, 2008 has so far seen Lucy open for Mike Heron at the Ceilidh Culture festival and also perform arrangements of her songs with acclaimed musical collective Music At The Brewhouse at Orkney's midsummer St Magnus Festival.

Many of Lucy's songs have been recorded over the past few years but a definitive collection has never actually been released upon the unsuspecting public, so plans for the near future include a four song EP which will hopefully be timed to coincide with the release of the forthcoming Jacob's Pillow album. Fingers crossed!
